About me

I began my artistic career back in 1981 when I was at Manchester Polytechnic doing a foundation course in art. This was followed by a BA (Hons) degree in fashion textiles specialising in embroidery. I exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and from this came an introduction to a London gallery, which led to several shows, shared and solo. I have exhibited in many galleries up and down the country.

I now live and work in Leeds where I am a member of Leeds Fine Artists. I am essentially a mark-maker. I love to find different pieces of fabric, stitch them together using a variety of machine or hand stitching, marrying the piece as a whole to work in colour and composition.

My subject matter surrounds me, flowers from the garden, my family, landscapes, places visited whilst on holiday. I try to keep my colours bright and vibrant with a strong emphasis on shape and pattern.

Each piece is unique. I can use foliage from your own garden to make the printing very personal to you.

My loft is my studio, where I can be creative and not worry about tidying up too much!! ..Until I have to for lack of space in which I can move.
